Ok so here is the layout for my project.
I added a slight "gradient" background but kept it black and white for the forming aesthetic. The way i have it built though it seems difficult to go back to the start screen, so ill be working on that.

Next step is refining the individual pieces, syncing audio and finding someway to put them in with this file....

Now the viewer is presented with these descriptions without the given knowledge that George Carlin said them. I believe this helps because now the person is interacting an choosing these assumed made up descriptions. Some are more odd ball than the others, but i believe that will make it somewhat catchy.
Then when they watch a show there will be more of an interaction between a viewer and THEIR show that they have chosen to describe themselves.

Afterwards they will be able to see the entire show acknowledged to george carlin

Then the page giving him his acknowledgement, wikipedia link and choice to play again

Lil Tony showed me a website for alot of cool flash tutorials and stuff, although slightly dated, most of the codes are still usable.

Flash Tutorial Stuff

Talked about how I could create the illusion of "storing" the user's choices. Seems the best way to do it is to arrange them into a timeline with markers at each beginning. A slight attribute will be changed, such as _alpha = 90, and an if statement created that says if this alpha is that then itll either play through or skip to the next.

Modern Man

1: Concept

Through the use of interactive typography, I plan to revisit the words of George Carlin. Such a powerful piece of speech, I believe, is a substantial body in which to devote such an endeavor to.

Today were trying to do quite a bit of everything, as described in his piece. Each piece of description, I plan to create a separate movie clip that animates the text to the characteristics of what it is saying; to the best of my abilities. In sync with the fast paced delivery of the words, I plan to have typography moving into, within and out of the frame. Shooting into the frame, stacking, growing in size, shrinking and changing colors within a limited palette; all of these will correlate with emphasis on the said words, somewhat bringing a new life to the read.

The type will be presented in capital Helvetica set type. Such a universal font will allow for concentration on the word rather than word form. The simple color palette will yield brighter, more attractive colors.

The interactivity of this project will be the viewers’ ability to choose or “build” their own “Modern Man”. Clicking on the descriptions, which the viewers relate to themselves, will create somewhat of a “show” that narrowed their own personal details.

This is a good stab at the appeal of the moving text I am going for...

I am attracted to his stuff because he is sampling from a source that is not only not-so-used by is from credible sources such as scientists and activists. Renewing their messages to apply them to a new message that could be related of strengthened by its use.

Senius the collective aspect of the genius. Something that in my own studies, art, and design is very apparent and often visited.

Nutrition can make or break us.

I plan on taking the Vlasic approach, the sound of freshness.

A particular attempt towards the idea of the Snack.

Presented in a personable webcam approach, i will be depicted enjoying the fresh sounds or disappointed in the limp fastfoods...

The interaction will be the viewers choice of the food and possibly building this collection of sounds into rhythms....

Reflection

What oh what what what....

Getting individuals involved is key. The importance of the individual in a growing generalizable society always needs reinforced. People like to feel included, that they are a part of something bigger, no matter how much bigger or not so bigger.

With our project, dealing with large scale concerns seemed to strike interest in quite a number of people
In the other groups project, the idea of thrill and the brotherhood of those who went through it attracted people.

People like to get involved if it entails some relief to their busy lives. The acknowledgement of everyone's need for a break makes them appreciate what is being done. Be it a laugh or a small fun-loving scare, interaction is what we are.

Interactive media is a media that links us, the more common the ground, the wider the span of people is that find it. The more focused the subject matter, the smaller span, but the more deeply enthused patrons show up.

I find that including the most amount of people, includes the most amount of lives. A good deed on a small level could be reminisced by everyone

I feel rather comfortable with the finessing of the projects and the presentation of the video exercise...

I can see a pattern in my own works, not a planned one surely...

I started with the beginning, then an exercise concerning the person (or learning the self), then an exercise mixing chemicals (or learning to create), and then the final exercise is somewhat of a middleeast interface... Somewhat stabbing at what our shenannigans have gotten us up to and the standstill we are "muddling" through...

I am pleased with the outcome of this project... thus far... there could be an infinite number of tweaks of course, but I feel some sort of concept has been conveyed.

I have created an environment that apparently has a beginning. The elements start out as if they were put there, and begin down a seemingly preconceived path. Upon contact with one another, a reaction happens and pushes each of them away from one another. Reaction after reaction the orbs begin to pick up inertia. Suddenly a black dot falls and bounces onto the realm. It emits a white light and spasms into a starburst form. The energy is then compacted into a "Deathstar" and explodes into a flash of light. To reveal....a "big bang"

My file has started moving the right way. I have my file setup and now all i need to do is following the bouncing balls and keep them moving.

Its gonna get pretty crazy ideally, i may have it speed up some and then slow back down. But eventually something like a white ball is going to drop and explode and wipe out all of these colored balls...or change them into something?

Digital Landscape

An intangible realm of bites and bits, ones and zeros.

Ideally one would have a 360 degree view, taking the characteristics of a sphere.

If knowledge is power, and the internet runs on electricity, emitted light seems like a viable metaphor for "knowledge".

The internet is mainly about interaction, the more you know, the "brighter" you are.

But its not white light, every object has its own certain ora and upon interaction you take a small bit of its characteristics, sort of like mixing paints.

As you interact and move the objects, their color becomes richer, but if left alone they start to dim out. >>If you interact alone, aka "study", your personal ora becomes richer, but if not, you become dated and dim out. And the timer starts upon opening

Upon interaction with one another the colors mix, mixing the projected light. Eventually if stimulated and mixed enough a white light will be created. A "flash" or "explosion" effect could occur and youll see the trace of the "orb" absorbing into the landscape itself.

If you interact with the internet enough, and become "enlightened", eventually you will write a blog or post a comment or a picture, and become a part of the internet. Your energy immortalized into the deep deep archives of the internet.

I am stricken with horn island. not neccessarily the place itself but what it does to people...or at least for me and alot of people i talk to.  getting away, getting rid of everything and just sitting around. Like i said up there, walter anderson wanted to become one with nature and not just observe it. And being one of the few "designers" that go...us techpeople find a block, we have to do art like watercolors or something. I like it but this is just a chance to go digital with a horn island aspect, my favorite landscape. and now i get to interact with it.

What im going to stick in these layers is still in the clouds for now....hmm.....

Of course, as it always has. From the super real paintings into the abstract into the performance into anything you want; art has always changed...or the perception...or our perception...

net.art adds a new variable.

Something you can see and hear, creating an illusion, but you can never touch it.

Its like comparing the old star wars which was the last ones and the new star wars which were the first ones.

You cant judge them on the quality of graphics or knowledge of way to do things, if you do date must be considered. But its always the concept and direction behind it. It may say something to you but first you need to know what they were trying to say.

netart is the name and netart is the name. dada may not have seemed like the right word to some, but thats what made it fit so well...it stirred people.

I believe the computer is where about the netart boundary starts to become apparent. Most design and computer arts are done digitally now I think its the purpose around the piece that defines which part of the fence it is going to fall on. Everyone has their opinion but its what purpose the artist gives it that is what it is. If it designing a book or poster or etc....art is suppose. If its making a pop-up that give people random famous quotes or just anything that is meant to get a rise or something....maybe its netart

Its art so have an art show. One machine for each piece, devoted to it. Lined up or 'fung shwead' around to the appeal of the gallery. But the total experience as far as the viewer walking in that door is up to the artist, red carpet, lamp...chair....mouse....custom keyboard....etc....

I think that art shows will continue to draw in the interest. But the netart-ers have the  advantage of the net as a mass means of advertisment.

Personally, as a design major, this is a splendid site. Although in parts the clean and crisp compromises the legibility. But easy to figure out and appreciate.

As for the content, also very interesting, perplexing ands stimulating site.

Theres a little thing about his cat that not many people may care for, but as for the other bits, very good.

It almost plays as a personal sketchbook of practices. This is how one keeps a digital sketch book on the web and what a thematic load of "cutting edge" exercises.

How could you turn the sale of net.art into an investment?

People make money from the web with advertisement dollars. If ones item is on a website with a particular sponsor then could some sort of residual income come of this item?

So if one were to buy the art, they would be buying a very tiny "business'
